Wild Honey

The Kani Tribe, native to the Podhigai Hills, sustainably harvests wild honey between April and August each year. Utilizing traditional methods, they track honeybees to their combs, often located 300 to 500 feet high on trees or cliffs. Working at night, teams of 7 to 10 individuals skillfully collect the honeycombs using natural creepers and green leaves. The honey yield ranges from 5 to 10 liters per expedition. Honey gathered from March to May boasts exceptional sweetness, while the June to August harvest has a medicinal, slightly bitter taste.
